JR Smith Edit

“JR Smith”…His twitter handle is @therealjrsmith, which is who we at Taylor’D & Bow, have had the chance to get to know.  We had the pleasure of JR suiting up for our street ball team Taylormade, during the Entertainer’s Tournament at the World Famous Rucker Park, where we started off trailing our opponents 15-0.  After a quick time out, JR Smith exited the phone booth, and entered the game like Superman;  in the exact same fashion that he’d done all year for the Knicks.  JR exploded alongside his brother Chris Smith, whom also played for Taylormade.

Smith put on a show from downtown, beyond the 3pt. line.  It was one of the best scoring displays I’ve seen up close at any point in time.  He dropped about 50, and looked effortlessly cool doing so.  It was like he had a Black & Mild in one hand, with a robe and slippers on, sipping Jack Daniels.

Last season, New York Knicks fans got a glimpse of just what the Freehold, NJ born, Tri-State area product; could do when locked in.  Smith averaged 18.1 ppg, besting his previous high of 15.4 with Denver in 2009-10.  He also posted career best in points 1446, rebounds 425, steals 100, blocks 24, free throws attempted 311; which helped his scoring production by going to the rack more.  Smith also logged a career high in minutes played 2678, on his way to earning “6th Man Of The Year”.

JR had surgery in July to repair a torn Meniscus, and a chipped Patella Tendon, restricting him from any basketball until October.

The 29 year old, 9 year league veteran has a chance at a fresh start, after a brief 5 game suspension to show the world the “Real” JR Smith.  Carmelo Anthony was quoted saying he had a real heart to heart with his former Denver teammate.  The two men have a few things in common, being teammates in Denver, as well as having both been born in the NY/NJ/CT Tri-State area.  I’m sure both men wanted to come home, and lead a Championship starved franchise to a Championship.  Throw in Queens native Meta World Peace, along with JR’s brother Chris Smith, I can’t recall any other Knicks team with more ties to the City ever.  Carmelo said Smith seemed to have taken heed to his message in their conversation.

JR Smith entered NEO Studios at approximately 7:00pm on a Friday night, with coolness and smile in tow.   His 6’6″ wirey  frame, was perfectly suited for every look placed upon him.  The New York Knick guard was a natural in front of the camera during the shoot.
